John Bencich, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Principal, Architect

John is a LEED accredited professional and architect registered since 1993. He has over 20 years of experience designing new uses for old buildings. He brings to each project extensive knowledge of Atlanta’s zoning and permitting processes and is acknowledged as an authority on commercial interior work.

Before starting Square Feet Studio in 2001, he worked at Smith Dalia Architects and Cooper Carry & Associates in Atlanta and Skidmore Owings & Merrill in San Francisco.

John has served as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Architecture at Georgia Tech, his alma mater, and at Southern Polytechnic State University. He is the 2008-09 Director of Academic Affairs for AIA Atlanta and was on the Young Architect’s Forum Steering Committee from 2003 to 2007. His work has been recognized by the local industry with several awards from the Urban Design Commission for Excellence in Design and the Georgia Chapter of the AIA.
